Our Faith
Monte Vista Christian School educates the head, the heart, and the hand. Our program challenges students to examine and embrace the Christian walk through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Students are encouraged to be academically articulate, knowledgeable, accountable, and live with purpose to effect a difference in the world for the glory of God.
Why is the Bible an important part of our curriculum?
Monte Vista Christian School began in 1926 with a mission to provide young people with a sound academic education while learning the moral and spiritual values of Christianity as taught in the Bible.
We believe that the Bible is the infallible, divinely inspired Word of God, and is the basis of all truth. Therefore, in order to teach the truth in any academic discipline of any extra-curricular activity, we will base that truth and the expectations on what God has to say about it in His Word.
To teach the truth, it is also important that students learn to be sound critical thinkers, so that they not be forced to believe, but that by using God's Word as the foundation of their searching, they will find the way in which they should go, leading to peace, joy, and contentment in their quest for excellence and success.
A Personal Relationship
What is a Christian?
A Christian is a person who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ and has accepted Him as his or her personal Savior.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is God’s Son, who was sent to this earth to live and die for you. He was born to a virgin, lived a sinless life, and died on a cross for your sins. He was buried in a grave, and three days later He arose to walk on this earth again until He ascended into Heaven. He lives there now and is preparing a place of eternal life for all those who believe in His name.
How can I become a Christian?
It is so easy that some think it cannot be possible. You must simply believe in Jesus and invite Him into your "heart" and life, ask Him to forgive your sins, and to be your Savior and your Lord.
Romans 10:9 says, "...if you confess with your mouth 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
What does being "your Lord" mean?
It means that you would give Him total control over your life, over your thoughts, and over your actions.
What if I sin after I make Him my Lord?
The Bible says in Romans 3:23 that "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." God will always love you unconditionally. Ask Him for forgiveness and He will make you clean again.
