International Students

Monte Vista enjoys a culturally, ethnically, and socially diverse student body.  International students bring an exciting and enriching dimension to our educational community.

The primary goal of the International Program is to help students from around the world to fully participate in and succeed at Monte Vista, preparing international students for top university options and rich, meaningful lives.  International students achieve fluency in English, gain a strong academic background and develop an understanding of American culture, within a Christian context.

International students have unlimited opportunities to improve their English, and prepare for college/university at Monte Vista from the moment they enter:

  • Resident Program, all resident staff have four-year college degrees
  • ELL and Transitional English Courses
  • Writing Center
  • SCCUP (Students for Cross-Cultural Understanding Program)
  • Academic Advising
  • College Counseling
  • Athletics, team sports with student/athlete interaction
  • Performing Arts, vocal, instrumental, and drama

Required Testing for Admission

  • TOEFL iBT  (minimum score of 42  for ELL, 61 for Transitional English, 78 for Mainstream).  www.ets.org/toefl
  • TOEFL Junior (minimum score of 700 for ELL, 750 for Transitional English, 875
    for Mainsteam).  www.ets.org/toefl_junior
  • iTEP SLATE (minimum score of 3.5 for ELL, 4.5 for Transitional English, 5.5 for Mainstream.  http://itepexam.com/en/
