The Academic Assistance Program (AAP) seeks to provide students with academic support to assist them in reaching their highest potential within the rigorous academic environment at Monte Vista Christian School. The Academic Assistance Program is not a special education program. All students at Monte Vista Christian School must have an average to above average academic profile, as measured by indicators such as standardized test scores. The extra tutoring, support and encouragement is designed to give students the tools to achieve and maintain the highest level of academic excellence possible here at MVCS and to use these tools in future educational endeavors.
Some students will be required to enroll in AAP due to the expectations clarified during the admissions process. Students demonstrating the need for additional support based on academic performance, teacher recommendation, or professional educational assessment may be recommended for any or all components of AAP.
Academic Center for Enrichment English or Math (ACE):
Students can receive extra instructional support during an Academic Center for Enrichment
(ACE) class period. Through one-on-one and small group tutoring, they will work with an instructor to
improve their skills and understanding of content from their classes.
AccommodationsMonte Vista Christian School can provide some educational accommodations to students needing extra assistance in the classroom environment. In order to receive accommodations, proper documentation from a professional evaluator must be provided. Please see attached Program Information form or contact your student's Academic Advisor for additional information.
Extended Period Math Class (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II)Students may be registered in an extended period math class which is aligned with the pacing and curriculum of single period math classes, allowing students an opportunity for some additional instructional support and guided practice.
