Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year!
MVC’s faculty and staff are excited to welcome students back and kick off the 2022-2023 school year next Wednesday, August 10. See the High School and Middle School sections below for specific information for the first few days of school.
TAKING FLIGHT ORIENTATION - monday 8/8 and Tuesday 8/9
Program Starts: 8:45 am
Lunch: 12:15 pm
Help is available (if you need it) in the ARC: 12:45 pm - 2:00 pm

August 10-12 Schedule for High School - The first two days of school, August 10-11, will have the same start and end times as indicated on this year's bell schedule. Students will have the opportunity to learn together and play together with other students in their grade while being equipped for a successful start to the school year. Buses will run as scheduled. You can view this schedule for an overview of the first week of school.
August 10-12 Schedule for Middle School - The first two days of school, August 10-11, will have the same start and end times as indicated on this year's bell schedule. Students will start each of these days in the Outdoor Student Center. Students will not want to miss these days, as they will follow a special schedule set up to give students an opportunity to prepare for a successful start to the year. Also, outdoor community-building activities will be incorporated throughout these days, so wear sunscreen and comfortable shoes. Friday, August 12, will begin our regular rotation schedule beginning with Period 1 and PHE, electives and Horsemanship. Buses will run as scheduled.
General Information (all families)
2022-2023 Parent/Student Handbook - Families should familiarize themselves with the 2022-2023 Parent/Student Handbook. Be sure to review the sections that cover our dress code, code of conduct, and iPad/Electronics Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).
Health & Wellness - School Nurse Bri Bauen is asking all MVC families to do three things to get our students off to a healthy start for the upcoming year:
- Make sure your child(ren)'s immunization record is turned in and up-to-date according to state law.
- Verify your child(ren)’s Emergency Card Information in Focus is current.
- Turn in all medications to the Health Station, located in Price Hall, to be administered by the school nurse, as ordered. You can view MVC’s Health Station policies on illness and medication here. Contact Bri Bauen with any questions.
Café Account - Students may purchase all meals and snacks on campus in the Café using their mySchoolBucks account. Credentials to create your account were sent via email. New students can create their unique barcode by following these instructions. Please reach out to our ARC staff for assistance if necessary.
Calendar - Students, parents, and all Mustang fans are encouraged to use these step-by-step instructions to subscribe to whichever portion(s) of the online MVC calendar is/are most helpful. Events can be added directly to your personal calendar! Options include athletics teams, clubs, fine arts groups, and much more.
Car Drop Off/Pick Up Route - Please review the drop-off and pickup route "car line" that takes place in the Senior Lot. This is where all student drop-offs before school (7:45-8:25 am) and pickups after school (3:20 pm) happen. The campus opens for students at 7:45 am and closes at 4:00 pm.
Carpooling - Families interested in connecting with potential carpool partners for the 2022-2023 school year can do so via the Mustang Network. First you will need to create your account here. Be sure to fill out your profile completely including choosing the "Parent" profile. Once your profile is complete and you've been approved, click on the appropriate carpool link below for your area.

Equestrian Program Information Session via Zoom - MVC parents and students interested in learning more about equestrian programming (both curricular and extracurricular) at MVC next school year were invited to join an information session via Zoom on Thursday, May 12. iPads/Technology - All students attending MVC must bring their own iPads. Please refer to the information on our Technology page for specifications. Please pay particular attention to MVC's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for answers to common questions and guidelines concerning iPads. Student credentials to access Focus, our Student Information System, and set up other services at MVC have been sent to new families via email.
We want you to feel prepared for the school year. Our ARC team members will be providing optional tech help for new MVC students, assisting with iPad set-up (including Focus, Moodle, and email), and one-on-one technical support. You are invited to drop by the ARC after Taking Flight on Monday, August 8 or Tuesday, August 9 between 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm for tech support.
Moms in Prayer - Every Friday that school is in session, all MVC moms are invited to come pray for our students, faculty/staff, and school. No commitment is required and no prayer experience is necessary! Drive to Gate 2, have your license scanned/visitor pass printed, park in Visitor Parking, and come to the Boardroom of Price Hall from 8:15 am until 9:00 am. Questions? Parent Volunteer Information - Parents interested in volunteering or chaperoning various trips and activities throughout the year will need to have a background check completed through the Live Scan process. Danielle Caldwell is available to assist you in getting set up to volunteer at MVC!
Transportation - Please visit the MVC Transportation Department webpage for general information on our transportation services. Bus ridership is guaranteed on a first-come, first-served basis, so families are encouraged to sign up ASAP. Routes and rates for 2022-2023 are available here. Sign up for your route here.
High School
Welcome Message from Mrs. Swing - This email was sent to all High School students on Thursday, August 4. Please read through it carefully for helpful information.
Class Schedule - All new-to-MVC Mustangs have had the opportunity to go over your class interests during your admissions interview, when we took the first steps in creating your 4-year plan. Credentials to access Focus, our Student Information System, were sent out via email.
Please have your child look over his/her schedule in Focus. Over the next few days, periods and teachers may change, but students should confirm their courses are correct. They can contact their guidance counselor with any questions. If your student is unsure who their guidance counselor is, please contact Venessa Gutierrez in Student Services at 831-768-6116..
High School Textbooks - Your textbook bundle is included in your tuition this year (a $275 value). The bulk of your required course materials will be ready to access beginning Monday, August 8 using these instructions. If you don’t see a book for every class, note that not all courses use textbooks and some materials will be distributed by the teacher.
Student Services Updates - If your child needs assistance as they prepare for the upcoming school year, please contact our guidance team. Summer is a great time to make progress toward college admissions and career goals. Please read over this update to meet our 2022-2023 team.
Middle School
Cowboy Class Elective with Trinity River - There is still room for any of our Middle School boys (grades 6 - 8) in the Cowboy Class elective for the first semester. This is a great opportunity for boys to experience horsemanship. View the description of the course, including cost, here. Contact Melissa Morales to sign up for this unique experience.
Middle School Family Picnic - All Middle School families are invited to join us on Saturday, August 20 from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm for a Middle School Family Picnic on the quad. Bring a blanket and a picnic for your family to enjoy. MVC will provide beverages and sweet treats, as well as the pool and other fun lawn activities for the whole family. PHE Uniforms - The Team Store will open again for one week only starting Monday, August 8 through Monday, August 15. All Middle School students are enrolled in PHE and require a uniform unless they are registered in Horsemanship. Here is the link to the uniform options through BSN Team Store. Supply Lists - As you prepare for the school year, please look over the grade level supplies lists (6th Grade, 7th Grade, 8th Grade). Trouble finding any of the apps listed? Not to worry. Teachers will give more details in class as to where they can be found as each app is introduced throughout the year.

8th Grade Washington D.C. Trip 2023 - For planning purposes and to get the best flight times/rates available, we are asking parents to register their child now for the 2022-2023 Washington D.C. trip. Sign up now to take advantage of this payment plan. Our hope is that all 8th graders would attend. Important information regarding this educational experience and how to register can be found within this letter. Athletics
Athletics Paperwork - Please make sure that you have all athletics paperwork completely filled out on Final Forms. Register now and electronically complete ALL forms!
High School Fall Sports Tryouts -Tryouts for High School fall sports will start on Friday, August 5. More information can be found here. Please make sure that you have all athletics paperwork completely filled out on Final Forms and a sports physical on file by the first day of tryouts. Students with incomplete paperwork will not be permitted to attend tryouts until it is complete. Please contact Matt Coleman with any questions or concerns.
High School Athletics Summer Schedule - This summer we will be offering training sessions for various sports on campus. This information can be found on the MVC calendar. Check back regularly for updates.
