Here's the schedule:
Emergency Card/Medical Information - Please send a copy of your child's immunization records (not including the COVID-19 vaccine), to MVC School Nurse Colette Crawford by June 30. Thank you for your part in keeping our student records updated. She will contact you in August if there are any necessary booster or updated vaccines.
All MVC students are required to have updated emergency/medical information in Focus each year. Please refer to these instructions to update/input this important information. After July 1, 2021, parents can log in with their parent credentials, complete, sign, and date the Emergency Card.
iPads/Technology - All students attending MVC must bring their own iPads. Please refer to the information on our Technology page for specifications. Please pay particular attention to MVC's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for answers to common questions and guidelines concerning iPads.
Café Account - Students may purchase all meals and snacks on campus in the Café using their mySchoolBucks account. Instructions for how to do this will be listed in the summer editions of the Mustang Flyer after June 17, 2021.
Tuition - All payments to MVC are processed through FACTS Tuition Management. Newly admitted students will receive an invitation from our Business Office by the end of May to set up their FACTS account. Day student tuition monthly installments begin in June, pay in full due by July 1 to receive $300 discount. Boarding student tuition is due by the deadline indicated in the acceptance message. Please contact Mirna Fonseca in the business office for questions regarding FACTS or your student billing account.
Parent Volunteer Information - Parents interested in volunteering or chaperoning various trips and activities throughout the year will need to have a background check completed through the Live Scan process. Please reach out to Brianna Jaquez if you are interested in volunteering throughout the school year.
Summer Camps - Now's the time to check out MVC's summer camp offerings and register right away. Some camps may be canceled if participation numbers aren't sufficient, so sign up today to ensure that your child’s preferred camp goes forward. Athletics, horsemanship, performing arts, general fun and games... you name it, we've got it!
Transportation - Please visit the MVC Transportation Department web page for general information on our transportation services. Bus ridership is guaranteed on a first-come, first-served basis, so families are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. Routes and rates for 2021-2022 are available here. Confirmed route and stop assignments will be issued the week of August 2. Please contact Transportation Manager Kenneth Rothhammer with questions.
Carpooling - Families interested in connecting with potential carpool partners for the 2021-2022 school year can do so via the Mustang Network. First you will need to create your account here. Middle School Course Selections - New-to-MVC Mustangs in grades 6 - 8 will be able to view their course scheduled in Focus by August 1. Please review course offerings here.
Elective Selection for New 6th Grade Mustangs - 6th grade students will enroll in a Music course of their choice, either Band or Chorus, for the duration of the school year. If unsure, our Fine Arts Director will meet with parents/students to determine best fit. To make your selection or request a meeting, complete this survey.
6th grade students will also rotate through four electives on a quarterly basis as part of an exploratory wheel: Art, Drama, Makerspace and Power Skills. Enrollment will be automatic (no need to register). For more details on all of these courses, please visit our website here. If you have any questions, please reach out to Carissa Medina or Melissa Morales.
Elective Selection for New 7th and 8th Grade Mustangs - New 8th graders will select their electives for the next year beginning on Monday, May 10. New 7th graders will select their electives beginning on Wednesday, May 12. We are excited to offer these elective choices. Students will make their selections via a survey to be emailed on the dates indicated above. Students will be asked to indicate their top three choices and placement will be on a first come, first served basis and seat availability, beginning with 8th grade.
Summer Reading - Though not required, students are encouraged to keep building their literacy skills over the summer by reading a book (or two) over the summer. Here is a list of some known favorites among Middle Schoolers. If you or your child has discovered a new favorite, feel free to email the title and author to email@example.com to be added to the list! Having your child read out loud to you for even five to ten minutes a day improves fluency and communication skills. Happy reading!
Placement Assessments - In order to determine the best possible course placement, we will assess incoming students in grades 6 - 8 during the summer. Not all new Mustangs will require a placement assessment. Therefore, we will send you an invitation to select the most convenient assessment appointment for your family. Assessment appointments will be available on June 16 and June 23. Questions? Contact our Admissions Team.
Textbooks - Your textbook bundle is included in your tuition this year (a $150 value). This bundle will be available by mid-summer.
