MVC’s theatre Arts Department brings magic to the stage.

 

 


MVC’s robust Theatre Arts Department offers courses in introductory theatre, advanced studio acting, musical theatre, and dance. Add ample design and technical opportunities and serious theatre students are well prepared for conservatories and professional opportunities. Each year we proudly present mainstage productions, new play works, and student-directed shows.

 

Theatre Arts Classes

Intro to Theatre

Intro to Theatre is an exploration of character development and improvisation with an introduction to theatre history and experience in theatrical performance. The course will culminate each semester with a performance to showcase learned skills.

Scenic Design

Scenic Design is an exploration of technical theatre with an emphasis on design and experience. Students will learn to develop a design from the initial script study.

Theatre SL/HL

Our Theatre class gives students the opportunity to make theatre as creators, designers, directors, and performers.

Higher Level Differentiation

HL Theatre students are required to create and perform a solo theatre piece.

Middle School and Lower Grades Theatre

Both the Middle School and Lower Grades work to put on a single production each year.

Dance Fundamentals

Dance Fundamentals is a collaborative approach to the exploration of movement with a specific focus on dance technique, styles, contexts and applications and challenges students to experience dance through multiple genres.
