Boarding Students Program
We are committed to empowering our boarding students in their academic excellence, community involvement, and global engagement. Whether you are an international or domestic boarding student, we invite you to be a part of a school that you can call home.
- Eric Swanson-Dexel, Director of Boarding
The primary goal of the boarding program is to invest in students from around the world, so that they are empowered to participate in and succeed at Monte Vista Christian. We are committed to prepare you for acceptance and success at top universities and rich meaningful lives. If you are an international student you will achieve fluency in English. All boarding students gain a strong academic foundation, develop an understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures, build lifelong friendships, all within a Christian faith-building community.
When MVC opened in 1926, 31 of its 45 students were boarding students. It reflected the school’s desire to provide quality education to students from around the world.
Through the decades, Monte Vista Christian has continued to draw learners from a variety of countries. Approximately 10 percent of our high school student body are international students who live in our campus dormitories. Boarding students live, study, and play within a diverse community that provides support, care and supervision. While fostering independence, decision making, and friendships, we are preparing them for university life and beyond. We invite them into a community of global learners, caring staff, and a place they can call home.
When boarding students are not occupying our residences, MVC dormitories are available for use by outside groups. MVC is pleased to work with organizations that host camps, seminars, and other special events. Our well-appointed dormitories and our beautiful campus setting make an attractive, comfortable, and safe amenity for partner organizations to offer their guests.
Who is a boarding student at MVC?
Boarding students are either international or domestic students who desire to be students at Monte Vista Christian and want to live on campus in our dormitories. International students are defined as students required to have an I-20 in order to study in the United States. Domestic students are defined as students who are able to study in the United states without an I-20. Both international and domestic students are invited and welcome to be a part of the boarding program.
After you have completed the application process, our Admissions Committee will thoughtfully and prayerfully make an enrollment decision based on fit in relation to our current student body and resources available. You will be notified within 72 hours after your interview of your admission status. Since MVC offers rolling admission, accepted students will have 2 - 3 weeks to secure enrollment with the submission of your enrollment contract and enrollment deposit.
